Designing a Visual System for a Market Still Finding Its Footing

Presto Research's 2025 annual crypto market outlook, Awkward Adolescence, examines a market no longer in freefall—but not yet arrived. The design challenge was to hold that tension: communicating structured, data-heavy analysis while reflecting an industry that is maturing unevenly, with direction emerging but not yet settled.

As Brand Designer, I led the full editorial design and data visualization system across 60+ pages. I built a unified visual language for charts, tables, and on-chain data—maintaining analytical legibility while allowing each section to carry its own visual weight. A separate social-optimized slide deck distilled the report's key findings into high-impact frames built for fast consumption across feeds.

The cover concept interprets Awkward Adolescence literally: forms that are neither scattered nor resolved—caught mid-motion, beginning to orient. Where the 2024 edition visualized chaos giving way to clarity, this year's system starts from controlled tension. The motion graphic extends this into a looping animation where fragmented elements gradually converge toward a single directional axis, then reset—mirroring the cyclical, unfinished nature of crypto's current maturation. Designed for distribution across social channels, the asset functions both as a teaser for the report and as a standalone visual statement about where the market stands.
